Senior Staff Accountant

Our client, a well-established Public Accounting firm that specializes in tax and audit, is seeking a motivated CPA with intermmediate to expert level experience in providing accounting, tax and assurance services to both individual, and small to medium size businesses, to join their team as a Senior Staff Accountant.

 

To be considered for this role you must have a minimum of 5 years of corporate and personal tax experience within a professional accounting firm; be highly organized, detail-oriented and have a demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage several tasks at once; Must also be proficient with CaseWare, CaseView, Profile/TaxPrep, and QuickBooks.

 

To be successful in this role you will be a self-motivated individual with strong verbal and written communication skills, who is accustomed to managing their own clients/accounts.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of audit and review engagements, financial statements and supporting working papers with minimal supervision.

  • Preparation of Personal, Corporate, Partnership and Trust tax returns.

  • Preparation of tax compliance and information filings including T4, T5, EHT, HST and WSIB filings.

  • Assisting with audit and review engagements.

  • Ensuring that all audit and accounting issues are properly identified and resolved in a timely manner.

  • Understanding accounting technical standards relevant to financial reporting in Canada.

  • Directly working with clients to co-ordinate the efficient completion of engagements, request necessary information, and review accounting transactions.

  • Correspondence with CRA regarding corporate, personal, payroll, and sales tax issues.

  • Effectively communicating with the team, clients, and relevant government agencies.

 

Qualifications:

  • University and/or post-secondary education in accounting/finance (CPA).

  • 5 +years of corporate and personal tax experience within a professional accounting firm

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented and have a demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage several tasks at once.

  • Proficient with CaseWare, CaseView, Profile/TaxPrep, and QuickBooks.

Showroom Receptionist

Our client, a highly reputable and longstanding business in the Newmarket area is currently seeking a highly organized, ambitious, and polished Showroom Receptionist/Administrator who is passionate about creating an outstanding client experience.

In this client-facing role, you will work as an extension of the client team and will be responsible for ensuring that each step in the client’s experience is completed accurately and on time from start to finish. You should possess excellent communication, problem-solving, and presentation skills and have a “can-do” attitude.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish professional relationships with existing and potential clients and suppliers, in person, by phone or by email through providing exemplary customer service.

  • Work closely with Sales Reps to understand clients’ distinctive needs and come up with creative solutions.

  • Liaise between Sale Reps, clients, and vendors.

Construction Accountant

  • Manage full cycle accounting- verify and approve payments, journal entries, invoices, remittances and lot sale transactions, review monthly HST returns 

  • Record revenue, various fees and recoveries for each project

  • Preparation of cash flow projections

  • Preparation of Year-End project financial statements and corporate tax returns

  • Review statement of adjustments prepared by lawyer and discharge statements prepared by creditors

  • Effective management of project budget including setting up jobs, budget control, subcontracts, and change orders in accounting software

  • Understanding and maintaining standard cost codes in accounting system

  • Month-end and year-end closings

  • Monitoring and resolving bank issues including fee anomalies and check differences 

  • Assisting with implementation and maintenance of internal financial controls and procedures 

  • Setting up and monitoring the accounting system and interpreting the data 

  • Providing accurate, understandable, timely information that supports your management's decisions, including analysis and recommendations

  • Ensuring compliance with policies and law 

  • Recruit, organize, train and manage staff

 

Minimum requirements

 

  • University Degree in Accounting /CPA Accounting Designation

  • Minimum of 5 years accounting experience

  • Advanced excel knowledge 

  • Experience with ERP systems (an asset), preferably GP Dynamics

  • Real Estate experience would be an asset

  • High level of analytical ability

  • Detailed oriented

  • Exercises initiative and demonstrated reliability

Construction Site Administrator

Our client, a longstanding builder of beautiful communities, is currently looking for a knowledgeable and experienced Customer Care Coordinator to join their team. The successful candidate should have a minimum of 3-5 years’ construction background experience with a new home builder, working knowledge of Tarion’s guidelines & procedures including the Construction Performance Guidelines and Newstar computer experience. Candidates must be team players, possess excellent verbal, written and organizational skills, proficient in MS Office and able to work in a fast paced environment.

Salary $45,000.00 to $55,000.00 per year plus benefits 

Site Superintendent

Our client, a Green builder/developer located in the GTA, is seeking a highly-skilled Site Super with 3-5 years low-rise and commercial experience to manage their on-going construction projects across the GTA.

To be successful in this role you must be able to handle a high level of responsibility, as well as possess superior time management and prioritization capabilities. Maintaining a high level of attention to detail while working under strict timelines is also key.

Responsibilities:

  • Review drawings and specifications; offer solutions where and when needed.

  • Coordinate and schedule trades.

  • Liaise and synchronize with the building inspectors of several municipalities and ensure that everything constructed meets the City’s requirements and that everything on the job site runs smoothly.

  • Conduct unit inspections and rectify any deficiencies.

  • Setting and ensuring that tight deadlines are satisfied.

  • Working in a team environment and making sure that everyone is on the same page and aware of what needs to be done and by whom.

  • Maintaining a high level of safety as outlined by the safety consultant.

  • Ensuring a high quality of workmanship on the site.

  • The “Scope of Works” for several subcontractors will be shared with you. You will be responsible for managing and ensuring that the works are completed according to the scope.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in a related field.

  • Ability to read construction drawings/CAD.

  • Have hands-on construction experience.

  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

Senior Estimator (Low-rise) Durham Region

  • Assist with sourcing products/ trades and maintain office trade reference book.

  • Assist with take offs and costing exercises.

  • Assist with drafting subcontractor scope of work.

  • Assist in the preparation & maintenance of project budgets.

  • Review, administer and maintain shop drawings are kept up to date and in an organized fashion. Ensure all sites have up to date drawings. Drawings are to be labeled and drawing table/area is kept organized.

  • Create and distribute tender packages and update drawings sets; following up quotations and summarize pricing to the Director.

  • Responsible for all change orders and follow up of revised pricing.

  • Communicate with Site Supers on a variety of issues and assist with answering any questions that they may have.

  • Address and respond to trades & consultants general inquiries and request for information when required.

  • Assist with trade tendering and summarizing tenders to be kept and maintained on an updated summary sheet on a per project basis.

  • Follow up with trades to ensure that bid quotes are received in a timely fashion.

  • Review all quotes received by trades to ensure that no changes have been made to the scope of work and any discrepancy to be brought to the Project Managers attention right away

  • Assist with the preparation and input of contracts into Newstar.

  • Assist with invoicing review and back charge processing.
